Five full days · the island end to end
West, centre, Furnas, Nordeste and Atlantic. One day moves according to sky and sea.

The ZERO São Miguel Guide · Edition 02
A guide made for guests staying in ZERO homes. Seven days designed from Ponta Delgada, with realistic timings, stop order, bookings and alternatives when the island changes its mind.
One island · one base · seven different days
ZERO properties are in Ponta Delgada. Every circuit therefore begins and ends in the city, protects our guests' pace and leaves a genuine reason to return.
The public origin is Ponta Delgada. The exact address and best departure from Azzurro, The 19th Hole or Regatta are provided in the private House Guide for confirmed guests. How to use the guide
Book anything with a fixed time. Keep panoramic days flexible and check webcams, sea and alerts at 07:30.
Choose by duration
These days are priorities, not a rigid order. Use the first clear windows for the West and Fogo.
West, centre, Furnas, Nordeste and Atlantic. One day moves according to sky and sea.
The 07:30 decision
São Miguel can hold four scenarios in one day. Compare zones and choose; the guide never assumes live conditions.
Webcams show Sete Cidades or Lagoa do Fogo without low cloud.
Use the window: choose Grand West or Fogo & North. Do not save the landscape for a fixed day.
High ground is clouded over, while the coast and towns remain visible.
Choose Ponta Delgada, the South Coast or Furnas. Check the webcams again after lunch.
Ponta Delgada from withinThe slow south coastFurnas without rushing
The operator has not confirmed departure or expects a last-minute decision.
Keep Atlantic Day ready, but hold the South Coast as the immediate swap. Never leave the boat until the final day.
IPMA issues a wind, heavy-rain or thunderstorm warning for the Eastern Group.
Under a yellow warning, reduce the plan and confirm openings. Under an orange/red warning, postpone non-essential travel and follow Civil Protection.
Seven circuits based in Ponta Delgada
Approximate timings and a conservative pace. Adapt for children, mobility, rain, daylight and fatigue without adding stops merely to complete a list.

Road access is restricted due to an unstable slope. The thermal sea bath is only safe with suitable tide and swell; otherwise keep to the viewpoint.
Expected arrival at the ZERO home.
In winter, leave Ferraria earlier and return before dark.
The public starting point is Ponta Delgada. During a confirmed stay, use the private House Guide map to leave from the exact address.
Before leaving, obtain written confirmation of a local table in Sete Cidades or prepare a picnic. ZERO can request a table, time and children's options; only the written reply completes the booking.
With the crater clouded over, begin at Mosteiros and Ferraria; check webcams at 11:30 and climb only if it clears. In strong swell, replace Ferraria with more time in the village and Ananases A. Arruda.
This is the spring/summer baseline. From October to March, remove bathing time, treat Ferraria as a geological visit only and aim to reach Ponta Delgada by 17:15.

The public starting point is Ponta Delgada. During a confirmed stay, use the private House Guide map to leave from the exact address.
The circuit requires prior written confirmation of the table, cozido and time. Caldeiras & Vulcões publishes lunch 12:00–15:00 and closes Tuesdays; on that day, confirm another option in writing.
In heavy rain, keep the factory, fumaroles, lunch and one thermal venue; remove Pico do Ferro and the lake shore. If Terra Nostra is unavailable, book Dona Beija and do not attempt entry without a ticket.
